Keep Moving was made during our residency with Canal View Primary School as part of Imaginate’s Immerse Project. We worked closely and collaboratively with the 2 P6 classes, exploring themes of belonging, connection and autonomy.
Using the canal and surrounding area of Wester Hailes as inspiration and movement as the starting point we discovered how we might interact creatively with our environment performing in places and spaces that you might not always expect. Taking risks, experimenting and playing with the rules.
During the residency we’ve asked; Who’s space is this? Who belongs here? What are all the different possibilities? Holding, lifting, falling, lying, balancing, climbing we created movement scores as solos, duos and groups.
We also experimented with our voices in melodic as well as unusual ways, harnessing the energy and power of the group. During the residency the P6s created an original piece of music inspired by the canal; Keep Moving which was performed live by a 60 strong choir.
